The trust also works with local and national governments who know their way around policies and regulations. It is estimated that the construction industry is responsible for 25% of all rainforest destruction. There is always something fun going on, whether its pot lucks, lunchtime moves or tennis games.
Rainforest Trust’s work to protect rainforests prevents one of the leading causes of global climate change: the release of carbon from deforestation. One particularly noteworthy project is the Sierra de la Minas Biosphere Reserve in Guatemala. Protecting these ecosystems enables the further protection of the threatened species that inhabit them. The Rainforest Trust partners with local communities that have spent their entire lives in the rainforest and therefore know it intimately. Rainforests are the pinnacle of life’s variety and complexity; they are the most diverse places on our planet, but 80,000 acres are destroyed every day.
