The grounds and burial places were interesting. there is a small visitor centre with bathroom facilities and a free information sheet is loaned to visitors which is well-written and gives a clear interpretation of the abbey ruins. The site of Sligo Abbey contains a great wealth of carvings including Gothic and Renaissance tomb sculpture, well preserved cloisters and the only sculptured 15th century high altar to survive in any Irish monastic church.
