It provides a multifaceted program of private enforcement, education and outreach, research and advocacy to affirmatively further the goal of equal housing opportunity in our Valley.The purpose of the AI is to determine impediments to fair housing choice at work within our City and to suggest actions that the local community can consider in order to overcome the identified impediments. Recipients of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) have a duty to affirmatively further fair housing, by taking proactive steps to overcome housing discrimination and segregation. The fair housing analysis in the AI focuses on patterns of integration and segregation, racially and ethnically concentrated areas of poverty, disparities in access to opportunity, and disproportionate housing needs.
