On my return from New York, I took the hard road and sat back in economy to report on the cheap seats (and they are cheap too – you can often fly to New York from London for under £300 return!). It was a really clever idea that actually worked.

The pillow was extremely small, but I appreciated having it.I was welcomed to the aircraft by two members of the cabin crew, both immaculately dressed and wearing warm smiles. Virgin Atlantic A350 economy class seats – it’s hard to tell what color they are due to the psychedelic mood lighting, but I can assure you they are comfortable. Leg room is decent. In row 45, the first two of economy, the seats have a massive pitch and are not even ‘Delight’ so don’t require extra payment.In a world where polyester reigns supreme, the woven wool blend fabrics of the A350s economy seats are a refreshing change. As far as we can tell, only Emirates beat this screen size, with their 13.3-inch economy offering. The best Virgin Atlantic economy seats on the A350 are without a doubt found in rows 45, 52, 53 and 54.

In Virgin’s A350 economy cabins all seats offer more comfort and better IFE than any other Virgin aircraft. And when it comes to LHR-JFK, there’s not much competition for these comfortable seats and superb IFE screens.Although there’s no AC power in economy, every seat has two USB charging ports to keep devices topped up.While there’s nothing too unusual about Virgin’s seat dimensions, it’s definitely on the comfortable side of things. I am not a fan of self-checking my luggage.
