Indeed, the uniquely-shaped building is eye-catching, but it’s worth noting that though Nvidia’s new headquarters is visible from the busy San Tomas Expressway, the magnitude of … Asymmetrical skylights create unexpected light patterns that reflect throughout the space, resulting in a complex light quality that also conveys a sense of calm and quiet.Innovation is the lifeblood of the technology industry and depends on strong collaboration, including serendipitous collisions between unlike ideas. A 500,000-square-foot roof with 245 skylights ensures that the space is always bright. With only two work floors, connection between these floors is enhanced by a variety of oversized staircases that also can be used as places for spontaneous interaction and exchange of information. It will stand at the intersection of science and art, just as our work in visual computing does.Efficient in every way, the design is thoughtful in its use of space, energy, and environment, and, of course, cost. Our three-person startup has grown to 8,000 staff across 40-plus sites. We have extraordinary employees in major cities around the world – Taipei, Helsinki, Shanghai, Paris, Beijing, Boston, Hong Kong, Bangalore, Tokyo, Moscow, Cambridge, and Sophia, among others. We intend to extend our lead in visual computing and touch every pixel of the billions of displays that now surround us.And our headquarters in Santa Clara, just a few blocks from where we started, barely has a spare desk. With only two work floors, connection between these floors is enhanced by a variety of oversized staircases that also can be used as places for spontaneous interaction and exchange of information. The central core of the building—its “heart”—is where all amenities, conference rooms, and restrooms are clustered, drawing together all the building’s inhabitants multiple times each day.

This system will reduce potable water use and reduce potable water use for sewage conveyance. Here, the main entrance and reception area greet people as they arrive from below-grade parking. The new headquarters will be constructed in two phases, with ground breaking scheduled for the first building in June and completion set for July 2015. Oversized platforms replace stairways as vertical connectors and serve to stage impromptu meetings and interactions. See the full list at Craft. The nature of building our products requires experts from multiple disciplines to come together, and this building is designed above all for collaboration.Together, we’ve created something wonderful.Twenty years ago this month, we founded NVIDIA. The space planning is zoned based in part on thermal comfort, so that spaces with wider temperature swings (due to proximity to the glass façade and solar orientation) are flexible meeting areas, and spaces with fixed desks have more stable conditions. For the NVIDIA Corporate Headquarters, employee comfort and productivity are the most important drivers. I am thrilled to present NVIDIA’s new headquarters. Our vision that computer graphics would revolutionize computing has propelled us into becoming one of the leading technology companies in the world. By establishing a 250,000 sf floorplate, the design team created vast interior spaces and a high ceiling—designed using advanced computer modeling—with geometric undulations that yields more intimate zones. Atelier Ten analyzed the building’s visual and thermal comfort to create a healthy, comfortable, energizing workplace to support employee creativity and innovation. Gensler's cavernous, light-filled office building in Santa Clara caps a seven-year effort for NVIDIA. Tasked to capture the soul of the company and optimize the creative and collaborative work environment, the design team leveraged a triangular geometry—an iconic symbol for NVIDIA—that reinforced the fundamental building block of the company’s core technology.
