Butcher Jones OHV Trail [CLOSED] is a 16.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Fort McDowell, Arizona that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The road there was closed. Can have a lot of traffic, because it is so close. What is so exceptional about Butcher Jones Trail is the view as it winds along the eastern shore of Saguaro Lake. You can probably turn around once you see Burro cove, as lake access would be a nasty bushwack and the trail eventually peters out near the lakeside anyway without any decent lake access or views.

We've spent time at two of the three coves, and both were relatively easy in our Jeep Rubicon (2.5" body lift with 35" tires). Our 1st trip to Butcher Jones was a complete bust for Father's Day. There was a decent amount of traffic on this trail, more than we've seen on any others, but we've never had an issue finding a spot to post up and enjoy the lake.very cool and fun trails for all levels of expertise.
